The Disaster Animal Response Team of Nova Scotia

Want to Help?

The Disaster Animal Response Team is a registered charity working in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, to set up and run emergency shelters and reception centres for animals affected by man-made and natural disasters.

We partner and work with other like-minded organizations to ensure animal needs are met during emergencies. We also have the ability to work in animal seizure shelters under the direction of the local responding animal shelter's Incident Commander.

We are currently seeking volunteer personnel, with an interest in being part of our organization. We require both responding and non-responding members who will be able to respond during an emergency situation or offer their expertise behind the scenes (such as an administration only type of role).
Responding members are required to obtain a criminal background record check as a pre-requisite to becoming a member.
As a member of this dynamic team, you will be expected to attend training as well as complete mandatory courses throughout the year – a list of all of our training and courses can be found on our website.  DARTNS has meetings the 3rd Saturday of every month and members are encouraged to attend. (Teleconference and Skype are available).

If you have the desire to help animals in need, give something back to your community and enhance your career possibilities, we have a role for you in our organization!
