The Disaster Animal Response Team is a volunteer based, not for profit society, working under in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, to set up and run emergency shelters and reception centres for animals affected by man-made and natural disasters.
We partner and work with other like-minded organizations to insure animal needs are met during emergencies. We also have the ability to work in animal seizure shelters under the direction of the local responding animal shelter's Incident Commander.
We are currently seeking volunteer personnel, with an interest in being part of our organization. We require both responding and non-responding members who would be able to respond during an emergency situation or offer their expertise behind the scenes (such as an administration only type of role).
As a member of this dynamic team, you will be expected to attend training as well as complete mandatory courses throughout the year – a list of all of our training and courses can be found on our website. Monthly meetings are held but are not mandatory (teleconference and Skype are available).
For more information or to fill out a membership application, please contact our Volunteer Director Margie Garland at: email@example.com
Please note we do require a clean criminal record check as a prerequisite to becoming a responding member.
If you have the desire to help animals in need, give something back to your community and enhance your career possibilities, we have a role for you in our organization!
